  • Inquiry into the future of inter-regional passenger rail in New Zealand

    21 October 2022

How people move around our country is important. Having better rail-based transport options, as well as dedicated tourism products, can and should have a bigger role to play in the tourism industry in the future. As such, TIA supports the key features of the draft Terms of Reference, and we submit that this should include a clear tourism-related reference so that this aspect of the rail system is included in the inquiry.

  • Submission to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment on the Sustainable Biofuels Mandate Consultation

TIA supports the intent to establish a framework for increasing the use of sustainable biofuels, but we are not convinced that the current proposals for the mandate will go far enough to ensure that the aviation sector has a viable mechanism for sharply reducing its carbon emissions.

  • Submission to Civil Aviation Authority on the Review of Aviation Fees, Levies and Charges Discussion Document

    14 February 2020

TIA submitted on CAA’s Review of Aviation Fees, Levies and Charges Discussion Document, for the period 2020-2023. TIA is not supportive of the levies increase. We would like to see efforts to increase organisational efficiencies within CAA before the levy is increased and we are concerned by the intention to fall back on increasing the levy on operators should passenger numbers soften. Rather, CAA should plan and manage its costs accordingly.
