As Advocacy Manager, Steve ensures TIA members’ views are heard loud and clear. This includes talking and meeting with members and organisations whose work impacts on tourism, such as the Department of Conservation and the New Zealand Transport Agency.
Steve works to resolve issues impacting on members and ensures TIA takes a leadership role on pan-industry issues such as freedom camping and adventure tourism.
Prior to joining TIA, Steve worked for several decades in senior management positions in the hospitality, tourism and tertiary education sectors, including eight years as Hospitality Standards Institute Chief Executive. He was also a General Manager in the Master Plumbers Association. He enjoys a good discussion on the people and skill issues in the hospitality sector and tourism industry.
Outside of work Steve finds solace in the quiet activity of river fishing. He has recently completed his second half-marathon, and is a keen sports supporter, cheering on his daughters’ sports teams.
